Photographer
After receiving my B.A. in Photography from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, I moved to the San Francisco Bay area where I ran a commercial, all digital photography studio for over 8 years. I primarily photographed products for packaging, print ads and web media from just about every corner of the product world including food and wine, electronics, toys, merchandise and building materials to name a few. I worked in the studio, and on location, to create newspaper ads, magazine ads, brochures, packaging, trade show graphics and catalogs.
The last few years of my commercial work, I began photographing weddings for clients and friends. With such a great response from my wedding clients, I began to look into doing it more full time.
In September of 2004, I moved from the Bay Area, back to Boise, Idaho, where I was born and raised, to start my own studio and photography business. The first year back was a little slow, but my second year back was more than twice as busy as the year prior. I have had a great response to my work in all areas and each year gets better for me, and allows me to offer a bigger variety of products and services to my clients.
My primary focus at this point is people photography like weddings, new born babies and kids portraits, Senior portraits, families, office staff etc., however I also shoot some commercial work for builders, smaller companies. I also design print media for invitations, announcements, business cards, post cards etc. and work with printers to create collateral and print materials for many other commercial and professional clients.
My love of photography is what benefits me and my prospective clients alike. Sure, it earns me an income, however, I never feel as if I am actually working. The joy in my work will be your joy in the results.
Sincerely,
~Jason Ropp
